Praise and Prayer- Blessed be the Name of the Lord

Friends...
Here's my chance.
Praise and Thanksgiving WILL flow from my lips, EVEN when my life does not look like I want it to.
Life, this imperfect life that we live as we prepare for our real HOME -that glorious place where Satan is vanquished and Jesus is King FOREVER!-oh but this life...this life has been hard,..ok REALLY HARD lately. One thing after another...it seems to just keep coming. Luke's undiagnosable "soft tissue mass", Joel's 9 month treatment, a tree falling into our living room, seizures, rashes, fevers, pneumonia, stomach flu, sick kids, sick husbands, medical bills piling up, questions about the present, questions about jobs, questions about where to live, questions about the future, questions about purpose, dreams, visions.
But Never, NEVER a question about WHO holds the future and WHO is ever-present in the midst of the storms.
SO,...I will choose to say,...Blessed Be the Name of the Lord.

Our newest development is involving Joel. Long story short, his Doctors at Children's Mercy have reason to believe they have been treating him incorrectly. So Monday Joel will go for an abdominal CT scan with contrast, to determine which, if any of the lymph nodes look abnormal and are a good candidate for surgical biopsy.

So, I'm calling all prayer warriors...and asking you to add one more special little boy to your list. Thank you.

Zambia!

Isn't it amazing that a Great and Awesome God such as ours, takes the time to cares about even the daily physical needs of our lives? I see it personally and I see it in scripture, time and time again.

He feeds the hungry.
He heals the sick.
He gives sight to the blind.
He makes the lame to walk.
He provides freedom for the captive.
He offers salvation for the lost.

And perhaps even more amazing, yet? How about the fact that so many times, He chooses us, broken jars of clay, to do HIS amazing work? Sometimes He uses our hands to serve. Sometimes our arms to offer comfort. Sometimes our feet to take the gospel. Sometimes our smile to cheer. Sometimes our voice to offer encouragement and hope. Some He calls to GO. Some He calls to PRAY. Some He calls to SEND. Each of us can offer something unique to Him, if only we listen. How humbling. What an honor.

Friends. I want to tell you about an amazing woman, my sister, Dr. Amber Ratliff.

Long ago she gave her life to Christ and followed God's leading preparing herself to be a Doctor, in order to one day take her skills to the people who need it most. And now that opportunity has arrived. In April, God is using Amber's hands and skills to provide medical care to the "hurting" people of Zambia, meeting the people at their point of need. Imagine....one hospital...with only 200 beds....serving over 200,000 people in the area, on limited supplies.

Amber will not only be offering medical expertise, she will also be shining the Love of Jesus to every person she meets and you can be a part of that!

Of course, God may not be calling you to go to Zambia, but God has called her to be His hands and perhaps He is calling you to be His feet by SENDING her.

If you feel God laying this need on your heart, you can make a tax-deductible donation to Samaritan's Purse online in Amber's behalf. The funds will help pay the expenses of her travel and stay in Zambia while she use her medical skills to offer them HOPE.
Simply follow the link below to the Samaritans Purse Official Website:
www.samaritanspurse.org -> ways to give -> support a physician -> enter Ratliff, Amber at the bottom left -> enter amount -> click "make donation".

WE ARE THE BODY OF CHRIST. Here's your chance to share His love with the world!

"Once our eyes are opened we cannot pretend we do not know what to do. God, who weighs our hearts and keeps our souls knows we know and holds us responsible to act." Proverbs 24:12

Note: I received a letter she wrote to some friends and family after writing this post and was blessed to read how God had laid on her heart some of the same thoughts as mine...down to the detail of the same verse. Since I could not get it to save and attach to this post, if you are interested in reading it, let me know and I would be happy to email it to you. She clearly defines the need in Zambia as well as why she feels led to go.
