Thanksgiving Lessons

Happy Thanksgiving Dear Friends!

I am so grateful that we have a God that speaks to us in timely and personal ways.
I feel like today is the culmination of a lesson I have been learning over the last year and I
wanted to share with you.
A lesson that Thanksgiving is the beginning of really living.  That at times "thanksgiving"
rolls easily from our mouths but at others the "thanksgiving" is almost a guttural cry that despite all,...God is in Control and for that we are grateful and choose to recognize He is molding us and making us to be more like Him and for that we are thankful.

But today I feel like God topped off this lesson He has been teaching me with a great big cherry!
On this day focused on Thanks and eating....let me share the verse that stared at me from His word this morning:

Come all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come: buy wine and milk without money and without cost.  Why spend money on what is not bread and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear and come to me; hear me, that your soul may live.
Isaiah 55:1-3

Now, let me explain. I love Thanksgiving Day. I love the season. I love the colors. I love the decor. I love the family time.  But I also really love the fact, that I only have to offer one small insignificant dish and somehow, the whole table fills up with food I can delight in.  So much blessing and yet all I had to offer was one measly casserole. It's wonderful. But the irony is, that no matter how much I stuff myself, I am hungry again the next day!

Yet, this verse reminds me of where my true delight should come from.  To Him, I have so little to offer, and yet he provides me a whole host of blessing.  He fills the table of my life with more bounty than I can contain,...if only I choose to see.


We so often believe "thanksgiving" is about what we've been given; the reality
is it's all about the Giver.

I pray your soul finds delight in the "richest of fare" today and throughout the year to come!
